Basic Information In the Story (Non-Spoiling)
A loyal knight who happens to be Captain of Alexandria's only force of knights which are male, the Knights of Pluto. However, this group of knights are greatly outshined by the female knights of the country. Steiner's greatest rival happens to be the leader of the female knights, General Beatrix. Both her and Steiner's sworn duty is to serve the royal family and protect them from any types of dangers. Steiner happens to be the most loyal of the two, following Garnet around during the course of the game.
Steiner greatly dislikes Zidane as he sees the blonde as nothing more than a criminal, since Zidane was going to kidnap Princess Garnet. The two often argue and Steiner does not trust the tailed hero at all aroud the Princess. Even though he dislikes Zidane and his friends, there is one member of the party who Steiner does have great admiration for, and that would be Vivi. Steiner often refers to the Black Mage as "Master Vivi" to show his respect for the little guy's great Black Magic abilities.
Spoiling Information
This information is rather spoiling so it would be best if you did not read on in this section until you have completed the game.
Steiner protects the princess at all costs and follows her throughout the course of the game, even though he greatly dislikes Zidane Tribal. But as the game progresses, the Knight learns to come to terms that Zidane means no harm to the one he protects and ultimatly learns to trust Zidane, as is shown when himself, Beatrix, and Freya stay behind in Alexandria castle sometime during the beginning of the second disc.
There is not a whole lot of backstory for this character, but eventually he does come to terms with what he feels for General Beatrix, and the two admit to each other that they do care for each other in a romantic way, as can be seen at the end of the game.
