Basic Information In the Story (Non-Spoiling)
A small child-like Black Mage with great intelligence and power. Vivi is one of the first characters you encounter in the game of Final Fantasy IX. Vivi is first played with early in the game in Alexandria where he obtains a ticket to the play Tantalus is putting on, I want to be your Canary. When he finds out it is a fake he is rather upset, but feels better again once a small rat-person, by the name of Puck, tells him there is a way he will be able to see the play.
After several events, Vivi does manage to group with Zidane and the gang. Vivi tags along just to find out exactly who he is.
Vivi tends to be very shy and unsure of himself a very large portion of the game. At the beginning you can see this as he meets new people. He really doesn't know what to say to them and often times will be at a loss of words. In Dali when he first sees the Black Mages, Vivi becomes confused. Mostly confused about his very own existance, and around that time his main goal becomes that of wanting to know exactly who he is and where he came from. Not only that, he wants to find his place in the world all while staying true to himself.
He is also a very curious individual. For his age he is also rather intelligent.

Like all other Black Mages, Vivi was produced by the mist by-products. The only difference between him and most of the rest are that he was created as some sort of "prototype" and as a result has a much longer lifespan than those created by the generic process. It is unknown how it happened, but for a large amount of time, Vivi stayed at Quan's Dwelling with a Qu he referred to as "Grandpa" by the name of Quan. His grandfather somehow died and Vivi went to Alexandria.
