Organization XIII was first seen in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. However, they play a rather big role in Kingdom Hearts II as well. Though several of the members were already killed by the time Kingdom Hearts II came along, there are still plenty of them around, and it would be nice to have a good understanding about the role of each member in the game.
The Organization is a group of Nobodies who happened to take on a bit of a different form. Unlike the normal nobodies, the Organization members posess great strength and are usually of very high intelligence. The Organization's main goal is to unlock the mysteries of the heart and to obtain Kingdom Hearts so that they will be able to have a heart of thier own and become true humans.
No. 1 - Xemnas ~ The Superior ~
Xemnas is the first member of the Organization and arguably has the biggest role in it. More than anyone else, Xemnas has his goal to obtain Kingdom Hearts. This probably largely stems from the fact that he is the Nobody of Xehanort, or the man who was the enemy in Kingdom Hearts who went by the name of Ansem.
In order for this man to gain Kingdom Hearts, he seeks out the power of the Keyblade. Morely, that means he uses Sora in order to gain more hearts. For him to obtain Kingdom Hearts, he must obtain a large amount of hearts that were unlocked by the keyblade. This means that the more Heartless Sora slays, Xemnas comes closer to his goal of obtaining Kingdom Hearts.
No. 2 - Xigbar ~ The Freeshooter ~
A cocky member of the Organization who likes to throw around insults. He is very strong, and uses a weapon that can shoot out diffrent beams from a distance, so that makes him quite difficult to defeat. The man can first be seen near the beginning of the game in Hollow Bastion where he wears his hood from his cloak over his head, so he is unrecognizable, minus his voice.
Sora later meets him again in various locations and eventually the two fight in The World that Never Was.
No. 3 - Xaldin ~ The Whirlwind Lancer ~
Xaldin uses six lances to pierce his enemies and also has the ability to control the Dragon type Nobodies. Apperance-wise, Xaldin looks like he would be a very quite man - the strong and silent type, however, he has a tendency to talk quite a bit, so his looks are a bit deciving that way.
In Kingdom Hearts II, Sora meets Xaldin for the first time in Beast's Castle the second time Sora travels there. While there, Xaldin attempts to create a powerful Heartless and Nobody using the Beast, but he fails as Sora was there to stop his evil plan from going through.
No. 4 - Vexen ~ the Chilly Academic ~
Vexen is a member of the Organization XIII who likes to expirement the most. He looks deeply into the mysteries of the Heart, Heartless, and Nobodies. Vexen also fights with ice based magic and carries a very large shield with him.
He is one of the Organization members who were only seen in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, so his role in Kingdom Hearts II is nearly nonexistant, since he was killed by Axel in the said game.
No. 5 - Lexaeus ~ the Silent Hero ~
Laxaeus is another member of the Organization that only appears in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. He's a strong man that uses brute force all the time, and he's also not too terribly intelligent. In the game he appeared in Riku's story and was eventually struck down by Riku and killed, but with his last remaining strength he tried to overwhelm Riku with all the darkness inside of him, but Riku was saved by King Mickey, so this had little effect on him.
No. 6 - Zexion ~ the Cloaked Schemer ~
Zexion is a manipulative man who uses his wits in order to make things the way he wants them to. He doesn't fight at all, but rather relies on his intelligence. He also has a strange ability of being able to track someone down by their particular scent, and is able to tell when they are dead because of it.
In Chain of Memories, Zexion appeared in Riku's story along with a few other members of the Organization. After three members of the Organization are killed: Larxene, Lexaeus and Marluxia, Zexion attempted to destroy Riku. In order to bring him down, Zexion attempted to use his wits to make Riku believe that he was only being used by the darkness. Doing this, he disguised himself as Sora. Nothing that Zexion did, however, had any effect on the boy.
For awhile, Zexion was fine, however, Axel quickly brought in Riku Replica and tried to get him to destroy Zexion, which he did easily.
No. 7 - Saïx ~ the Luna Diviner ~
Saix has an X-Shaped scar on his face, which is a pretty good indication that he had been involved in some fierce battle in the past. His weapon is a claymore and he uses the moon element, controlling the Berserker nobodies.
This man shows no emotion or mercy to anyone. Saix is a man that is looked up to in the Organization XIII, at least by Xenmas, because Saix is treated as if he were second-in-command in the group. Saix and Axel also greatly dislike each other. During the game, Saix accuses Axel of betraying the Organization by sharing insider information with Sora.
In Hollow Bastion later on in the game, Sora learns that Saix had caught up with Kairi when Axel had lost her. Seeing this as something that could be used to his advantage, he let Sora know this. In return, a bunch of anger built up within Sora. At this time, Saix summoned more Heartless in which Sora destroyed, and then later found out from Saix that for every Heartless he killed, the Organization was one step closer to getting Kingdom Hearts, which greatly confused the boy.
No. 8 - Axel ~ the Flurry of Dancing Flames ~
Without a question, Axel is the most recongnizable figures in the Organization XIII as well as being a fan favorite. Axel was first seen in the game Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and was the only member of the Organization that lived through the events of the game, seeing as he killed most of them off with his own plans and actions.
In Kingdom Hearts II, Axel is first introduced in Twilight Town while the player plays using Roxas. Axel looks at the young boy as being his best friend, and ultimately want to take Roxas back when he recovers his memories so he can become a part of the Organization once again. However, this plan obviously fails when Roxas meets up with Sora.
No. 9 - Demyx ~ the Melodious Nocturne ~
Demyx is probably the strangest member of the Organization. He doesn't like to fight, as he doesn't believe he has much skill in it, and would rather talk himself out of the sticky situations. Sora meets up with him first in the Underworld, but he later reappears in Hollow Bastion where this is proven true.
Demyx is a musician who fights with a weapon called a Sitar. He also controls the Dancer Nobodies.
No. 10 - Luxord ~ the Gambler of Fate ~
Luxord is another rather strange member of the Organization XIII. This man loves to gamble and play games, and in battle, he sees it as no different. Using his deck of 52 cards in battle, it is a rather odd fight when one is to go up against him. As well as that, this man is more of a strategist, so when losing against him in battle, it really isn't a matter of not being strong enough to take him on, rather than he's just outwitted the player for the time being. He controls the Gambler nobodies as well.
His first apperance is at Port Royal where he ressurects the Aztec gold curse.
No. 11 - Marluxia ~ Graceful Assassin ~
Marluxia only appeared in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. He was the lord of Castle Oblivion and wielded a pink scythe. He controled the flower element, which also sometimes is refered to as nature.
Marluxia tried to overthrow the Organization XIII by having Namine manipulate Sora's memories. In order to get another member of the Organization, Vexen, to agree to his plans, he threatens the man that he will tell their leader, Xemnas, that the Riku Replica Vexen had made was a failure. After a series of Events, Vexen went against Sora, however, the man almost told Sora the truth about Roxas, his Nobody, therefor Marluxia ordered Axel to kill the man, which he did.
A series of events happen between Axel, Marluxia, and Larxene afterwards, where eventually Marluxia heads to the 13th floor, where Sora follows after him. There Sora eventually defeats Marluxia.
No. 12 - Larxene ~ the Savage Nymph ~
Like many of the other members, Larxene only appeared in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and was also the only female that resided within the Organization XIII. In the game, Larxene conspired with Marluxia in order to overthrow the Organization XIII by using Sora. However, this plan obvliously fails.
The woman is a sadist and arrogant, she doesn't really care for the feelings of anyone and would rather see people suffer using mindgames. She is agile and uses claws for weapons while controlling the Thunder Element.
No. 13 - Roxas ~ the Key of Destiny ~
To most fans, Roxas is probably the most surprising member of the Organization XIII. He is both the youngest and newest member. Like all the other members, Roxas is a Nobody, and was born the brief moment that Sora's heart left him and he became a heartless. The boy uses the power of light and controls the Samurai Nobodies.
Roxas was the first member of the Organization who could be seen. He was in both the "Another Side, Another Story..." and "Deep Dive" videos battling heartless with and against Riku. The unique thing about Roxas, compared to Sora, is that Roxas has the ability to wield two keyblades.
The brief time that Roxas was a member of the Organization XIII, he became best friends with Axel. However, Xemnas let Roxas know of his true orgin, that of being the Nobody to Sora, and being a bit angered, Roxas wanted to find out more about this and left the Organization.
