Johnny Garland is a 16 year old private detective who lives in the Upper west side of New York City with his servant, Lenny. A couple years previously Johnny was involved in a tragic accident which resulted in him losing his father and sister, as well as the memory of what happened on that day. The young boy did not want to live on his inheritance from his father, so he moved to New York to start his buisness. He also believes that being a detective could possibly lead him to finding out what exactly happened on that day.
Though, most of the jobs Johnny recieves are rather trivial matters, one day he does get a decent one which sounds rather interesting from a man named Gilbert. This is to find a certain man. However, Johnny doesn't know that this case will ultimately change his life...

A beautiful native American woman who came from the Grand Canyon region of the United States. Shania travels with the man, Natan, in order to find out more about the mysterious things known as the Windows as well as to kill off any monsters which come out into the world as a result of the windows being opened. Though, it isn't really understood why, Shania also seems to be hunting down Lady.
One afternoon, a chance encounter occured. While Johnny was in a building investigating the dissapperance of a man, a window appeared. And when the monster came out and swallowed the man whole, Shania broke into the building. But she wasn't herself, and instead transformed into a beast - the Thunderbird.

A Native American man who follows Shania to the ends of the earth and helps her elemenate the beasts which come out of the Windows. He would do just about anything for the young woman and refers to her as "Princess." Natan doesn't talk to often, unless he has something which he believes really needs to be said, but when he does talk, his true nature and wisdom really do shine through. He is a very caring individual.

Ricardo is a man who has been wandering across the United States. One day he finds himself in Chicago. This happened a year ago. It's rather strange to most people that he would stay in a place that long, but the reason is a fairly simple one - he found love in the city. He is known as a ladies man of sorts, who is able to enchant just about anyone with the music he creates, but there is one woman who had captured his heart, and that woman is none other than Edna Capone.

A strange man which Johnny and Co. first encounter in Akrahmn University. Though, he tries to hide himself behind a sheet to protect himself from the monsters in the room, it doesn't work well and Johnny comes to the rescue! At that time, Frank shows his true identidy. What is that? A brazilian Ninja, of course! Frank is probably one of the most goofiest characters in the game, but he's bound to keep you entertained!

What is unique about Mao is that she is actually a feline. While in Chicago, it seems Al Capone took a liking for her. She can often be found bossing around members of the local mafia as she sits comfortably in the V.I.P room. The party first goes to Chicago in order to look for her as Frank talks about his master knowing something - and that master is none other than Mao herself. Mao enjoys indulging herself. She drinks a lot of liquor and even her special skill has to do with her drinking. She has a secret ambition to become a movie star.

Hilda is a beautiful vampire girl who ends up in Rosewell when she came over to America with Roger Bacon and their ship crash landed in the middle of a house in the area. The two got locked up by the people of the area because they believed the two were aliens. This doesn't last long, though, since Johnny and company find the two while they are exploring the research center.
Hilda is the younger sister to the two other members of the Valentine family in the previous games: Keith Valentine and Joachim Valentine. She usually always says what is on her mind, though, depending on what form she currently takes, her attitude shifts slightly. However, during most of the game, she is seen as "Slim" Hilda.
